The Sri Lanka Export Credit Insurance Corporation (SLECIC) is the sole provider of trade-related credit insurance solutions in Sri Lanka.

SLECIC is an enterprise established by the Sri Lanka Export Credit Insurance Act No: 15 of 1978. The corporation is a statutory body that falls under the purview of the Ministry of Finance & Planning. With more than three decades of robust presence, SLECIC is committed to providing an attractive and innovative package of Export Credit Insurance and Guarantee support services for the development of exports of Sri Lanka.

SLECIC is also a member of the prestigious Berne Union, a worldwide alliance of credit and investment insurers.

SLECIC main objectives are:

• To issue insurance policies to exporters of goods and services against non-receipt or delayed receipt of payments resulting from commercial and non-commercial risks
• To issue guarantees to banks and other financial institutions to facilitate the granting of pre-shipment and post-shipment finance
• To issue guarantees to persons or institutions abroad in connection with goods exported by any person or institution from Sri Lanka or for the due performance of any services to be rendered to such persons or institutions within or outside Sri Lanka.

With an equity base of Rs. 1.4 billion and aided by a government guarantee worth Rs. 1 billion, the SLECIC is financially well equipped to weather any storms and protect exporters from unforeseen crises.
