Nigel Huddleston was appointed Minister of State at the Department for Business and Trade on 7 February 2023. He was previously Government Whip (Lord Commissioner of HM Treasury) from 20 September 2022 to 7 February 2023, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for International Trade from 30 October 2022 to 7 February 2023, and Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport from 14 February 2020 to September 2022.
Nigel Huddleston was first elected as Member of Parliament for Mid Worcestershire in the May 2015 General Election, later re-elected in 2019. Born and raised in Lincolnshire, he studied politics and economics at Oxford University, becoming the first in his family to attend university. With a background in management consulting and an MBA from UCLA, he worked for Deloitte and Google before entering politics. Over the years, he held various roles, including serving on the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee. Re-elected in 2017 and 2019, he took on ministerial roles in the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and the Treasury. In 2023, he became a Minister of State in the Department for Business & Trade, eventually being appointed as Financial Secretary to the Treasury in November 2023.
